Jura Blue Grey

Jura Blue Grey

A soft beige-grey limestone with subtle blue undertones, veining, and the delicate outlines of ancient fossils

Jura Blue Grey is a natural limestone quarried in the Franconian Jura, Southern Germany.
Formed roughly 150 million years ago from marine sediments — shells, corals, algae and occasional larger fossils — on the floor of the ancient Tethys Ocean, Jura Blue Grey carries elegant beige-grey tones with subtle blue undertones and calcite veining. Its most distinctive feature is the fossil detail still visible within the stone, including the delicate outlines of ammonites and belemnites. As with all natural stone, colour and pattern vary slab to slab. It's a relatively dense, hardwearing limestone, though — unlike engineered quartz — it is porous and vulnerable to etching from acidic substances, so it benefits from a quality impregnating sealer.

Jura Blue Grey is a natural limestone quarried in the Franconian Jura, Germany, prized for its soft beige-grey tones, subtle blue undertones and the fossil detail preserved within it.

As a genuinely natural stone, no two slabs are identical — the density of veining and fossil fragments varies from piece to piece. It’s a relatively dense, hardwearing limestone, well suited to kitchen worktops and surfaces with real natural stone character.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Stone to last

a lifetime

Jura Blue Grey is porous and acid-sensitive — avoid lemon juice, vinegar, wine and other acidic products, which can etch the surface. Apply a quality impregnating sealer at installation and reapply yearly. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive pads. We always recommend using chopping boards, trivets and protective pads, and following the specific care guidance for your Jura Blue Grey surface.
