Carrara Natural
The classic soft grey-veined marble of Tuscany
Like all Carrara-district marble, Carrara Natural began as limestone on the floor of the ancient Tethys Sea around 190 million years ago, before the collision that raised the Apuan Alps recrystallised it into marble.
It is the most abundant and widely used of the Carrara marbles, its soft grey-white veining flowing in gentler, less dramatic patterns than Calacatta or Statuario – and has been used since Roman times, in the Pantheon and Trajan’s Column, through to Michelangelo’s David and modern landmarks including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
At Landford Stone, we select and supply natural marble like Carrara Natural directly, backed by expert advice on finish, fabrication and long-term care.

Stone to last
a lifetime
As a natural stone, this marble is porous and should be sealed on installation, with re-sealing roughly every 12-18 months to guard against staining. Wipe up spills promptly - acidic liquids such as wine, citrus juice and vinegar can etch and dull the polished surface - and always clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner rather than bleach, ammonia or other acidic or abrasive products. Use a chopping board and trivets to protect against scratches and heat marks. With correct care, marble develops a genuine natural patina and remains a beautiful, long-lasting surface for generations.
