Botticino Classico
A fine-grained Lombardy limestone quarried for over two thousand years
Botticino Classico formed around 190-205 million years ago, as calcareous mud settled and compacted in a shallow, tropical Mesozoic-era sea, later cementing and recrystallising into stone within what geologists call the Corna formation.
Quarried since Roman times and used in the Roman Forum, its neutral beige tone has continued into more recent landmarks including Rome’s Altare della Patria, per its Italian producers’ own records.
At Landford Stone, we select and supply natural stone like Botticino Classico directly, backed by expert advice on finish, fabrication and long-term care.

Stone to last
a lifetime
As a natural stone, this marble is porous and should be sealed on installation, with re-sealing roughly every 12-18 months to guard against staining. Wipe up spills promptly - acidic liquids such as wine, citrus juice and vinegar can etch and dull the polished surface - and always clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner rather than bleach, ammonia or other acidic or abrasive products. Use a chopping board and trivets to protect against scratches and heat marks. With correct care, marble develops a genuine natural patina and remains a beautiful, long-lasting surface for generations.
