White Macaubas
A luminous Brazilian stone, technically a quartzite prized for its marble-like beauty
White Macaubas is quarried in Brazil. Unlike the calcite-based marbles elsewhere in this collection, it is a quartzite – a metamorphic stone formed from quartz sandstone – which gives it a harder, more scratch- and acid-resistant surface than true marble, while retaining a genuinely marble-like appearance.
Its crisp white-to-ivory background is threaded with grey, charcoal and occasionally golden veining, running in flowing, directional bands that vary from subtle wisps to bold streaks across each slab.
At Landford Stone, we select and supply natural stone like White Macaubas directly, backed by expert advice on finish, fabrication and long-term care.

Stone to last
a lifetime
As a quartzite, White Macaubas is notably harder and more resistant to acidic staining and etching than true calcite marble, though sealing on installation is still recommended to guard against everyday staining. Wipe up spills promptly, clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner rather than bleach or ammonia-based products, and use a chopping board and trivets to protect against scratches and heat marks. With minimal care, it remains a genuinely durable, long-lasting natural surface.
